So, I just watched Beastly yesterday, and It was such an amazing movie. I’m saying this because it actually made me profoundly think about it. The quote that stood out to me was, “I’m substance over style.” This greatly connects with society today. The majority of people getting into relationships today don’t get to know a person before actually dating him/her; they merely rely on a person’s face to judge if they’re someone worthy of dating. This is a sad fact. Now, I’m not saying physical attraction is a bad thing. I understand that there needs to physical attraction to draw you into someone. But, I am also saying that personality must draw you in, as well. In my humble opinion, I believe there needs to be some sort of foundation, before jumping right into the actual relationship. If you’re afraid of losing someone that badly that you need to rush into it, that person may not be right for you. If that person sincerely cares for you, they will wait. They will spend the time to get to know you and see if you guys can connect to some level. There needs to be a basic level of understanding because without it, the relationship is already doomed. I think that many marriages end up as divorces today because people just rush into marriage once they’re in that “honeymoon stage”. That stage takes a while to dwell off, from a few months to a year or two. Speaking from experience, it is difficult when that stage ends because that is when you actually have to work for the relationship. This is where most people give up and break up. Because without that foundation, you guys can’t connect anymore because you realize that you don’t know much about each other. All you guys shared were butterflies and lust for each other. People need to actually take the time to connect with someone, rather than rushing into it, because if this person was truly meant for you, you wouldn’t have to worry about how long it takes. The whole “right place, wrong time” may be true, but you can truly connect with someone and share the same interests, nothing can keep you apart.
